Tsuno Teru - 3rd Year Tree

This is a relatively new variety, registered in 2009. It is said to have been named Tsuno Teru (meaning shining in the corner or shining fruit) because of its beautifully shining flesh. It is a Japanese-made orange, a cross between Kiyomi Orange x Okitsu and Encore. It has a scent similar to Ponkan, and its thin peel and thin membranes make it very easy to eat.
The average fruit weight is about 150-180g, with an average sugar content of around 13 degrees, and it has very few seeds. Furthermore, fruits with a sugar content of 12 degrees or higher are called Umakanna, and when grown in facilities such as greenhouses, fruits weighing about 1.5 times more (around 220-250g) with a sugar content of 13 degrees or higher can be harvested.
It also contains a high concentration of β-cryptoxanthin.
It is resistant to scab and canker diseases, making it a promising new variety.

I harvested it at the end of the year, kept it in the vegetable crisper of my refrigerator, and was able to eat it until March! Its excellent shelf life is also a major plus.

It is grafted onto trifoliate orange rootstock, so it grows relatively quickly.
